Despite the strict travel restrictions are in force in the country, there is no decision taken to close the airports, Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranathunga said.
He said the closure of airports could deprive Sri Lankans living abroad of the opportunity to enter the country and that the airports would function according to the health guidelines.
During an event held in Wathupitiwala, the minister said several countries have temporarily imposed travel ban to Sri Lanka.
"Some countries have suspended travel and Sri Lankans also cannot travel to some countries. Countries like Kuwait and Dubai have stopped flights from Sri Lanka and several other countries in Asia. We always follow health recommendations. There will be no change in the future. We will take further action as per the instructions given to us by the health sector,’ he said.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)

If it is not closed, close it. It should only allow selected flights and not commercial flights. By closing I do not mean lock all the entrance and exit and go home.
