86 quarantine curfew violators arrested in 24 hours: Police

A total of 388 individuals have been arrested so far for violating the quarantine curfew in the nineteen police areas in Gampaha district, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.

He said 86 persons were arrested during the past 24-hours for violating the quarantine curfew.

Meanwhile, a total of 58 vehicles including 40 motorcycles and 12 three-wheelers were taken into custody for violating the quarantine curfew until this morning, he said.

Long-distance buses will be allowed to pass through the curfew areas however, they will not be allowed to load and unload passengers.

No restrictions had been made for the students who face the GCE Advanced Leven examination, the spokesman added.

All supermarkets, pharmacies and shops that sell essential items in the curfew imposed areas in Gampaha District are allowed to open tomorrow from 8 a.m to 10 p.m.

    Do people have to pay a fine?

    Not only curfew violators but also fake news groups should be monitored and fined. Daily we are bombarded with fake videos stirring unrest. These people should be sent to military training if they have nothing to do.
