Thirty eight senior Army officers including 9 officers of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) have been promoted by President Maithripala Sirisena in the wake of the commemoration of National War Heroes’ Day, the Army said.
They said the officers were promoted on the recommendations of the Ministry of Defence and Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake.
Accordingly, two Colonels of the SLAVF were promoted to the rank of Brigadier while seven Lieutenant Colonels of the SLAVF were promoted to the rank of Colonel.
The promotion of two Colonels comes into effect from March 21 and April 21 this year respectively while the promotion of 7 Lieutenant Colonels of the SLAVF comes into effect from March 21 this year.
The Army said 29 Lieutenant Colonels of the Regular Force of the Army have been promoted to the rank of Colonel with effect from March 27.
Promoted to Brigadiers of the SLAV are; Colonel L.B.D.H.S Lakshman and Colonel K.M Thilakrathna.
Promoted to Colonels are; Lieutenant Colonel P.K.N.R Ratnasinghe, Lieutenant Colonel D.S Ranasinghe, Lieutenant Colonel B.J Lekamge, Lieutenant Colonel S.K.M.M.N.K Mahanthe, Lieutenant Colonel W.T.M.P.S Bandara, Lieutenant Colonel R.M.H Jayatissa and Lieutenant Colonel N Mahawithana.
Promoted to Colonel (Regular Force) : Lieutenant Colonel T.S Balasuriya, Lieutenant Colonel W.A.N Fonseka, Lieutenant Colonel W.T Karunaratne, Lieutenant Colonel G.D.H.K Wijenayake, Lieutenant Colonel K.M.W Bandara, Lieutenant Colonel V.D.S Perera. Lieutenant Colonel K.P.S.A Amarakoon, Lieutenant Colonel D.C.A Wickramasinghe, Lieutenant Colonel D.K.S.S Dodangoda, Lieutenant Colonel T.C Peiris, Lieutenant Colonel M.G.W Wimalasena, Lieutenant Colonel P.K.W.W.M.J.S.B.W Pallekumbura, Lieutenant Colonel U.A.A.P Ubesiriwardana, Lieutenant Colonel B.N Madanayake , Lieutenant Colonel T.M.R.B Ratnayake, Lieutenant Colonel A.M.S Premawansa, Lieutenant Colonel J.L.T.K Hewa , Lieutenant Colonel A.A.J.S.A.S Perera, Lieutenant Colonel G.S Fonseka, Lieutenant Colonel K.A.U Kodituwakku, Lieutenant Colonel P.C.L Gunawardhane, Lieutenant Colonel W.S.N Hemarathna, Lieutenant Colonel S.P.G Gamage, Lieutenant Colonel E.N Kurukulasuriya, Lieutenant Colonel E.M.G.A Ambanpola, Lieutenant Colonel W.M.S.N Wijekoon, Lieutenant Colonel E.A.D.K Edirisinghe, Lieutenant Colonel P Vithanage and Lieutenant Colonel D.A Sirimannage.
