Two inspectors of police (IP) and eight others were injured when a group of men assaulted them at Batahathara in Kanthale last night, police said.

They said a group of people including the family members and relatives of both the IPs had been bathing in the Kanthale Lake when they came under attack with glass bottles by a group of men under the influence of liquor.

The IPs, who were at their homes at the time of the assault, had arrived at the location afterwards. The suspects had also attacked the two IPs.

The injured were admitted to the Kanthale Hospital. The police have arrested two suspects including a member of the Kanthale Pradeshiya Sabha over the assault.

One of the arrested suspects was also injured and undergoing treatment at the Kanthale Hospital under police protection. (Darshana Sanjeewa)

Also tell us what the Police did to those arrested. Inhuman torture would have been administered to them by the Constable and Sergeants for assaulting their “God “ the Inspectors.
