Over 300 workers of a garment factory in Mahiyanganaya who had consumed food last evening have been hospitalized with suspected food poisoning. Health authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
Police said the 303 workers of the garment factory in the Mahiyangana town had developed vomiting and faint from the previous night. It is believed that the fish curry or herbs served with the midday meal caused the illness.
However, the Health Officers and Mahinyangana police conducting inquiries into the incident said the cause of illness could be established only after testing the food and water samples collected by them. (Daily Mirror online)

How much time it’s happened in this country, Health authority has to check all the restaurants regularly. We do not respect human health and quality. Do we have food controller in our country? State television has to launch a program that how to eat healthy in modern world. We do all know politicians taking care well to their family. But please thing very little to public.

Why don't the workers bring their own food like old days. Wonder why certain comments bringing up GSP plus when this is has to do with the unhealthy food. Same thing took place in school canteens too.

This is happening too often now. The hot weather, apparently, spoils the meals by 5 p.m., so fresh ones ought to be prepared.
