The Sri Lankan crew of the ship hijacked by Somali pirates off the coast of Oman yesterday are in good health and efforts are now underway to secure their release, the Foreign Ministry told Daily Mirror.
The Ministry has instructed the Sri Lankan High Commission in Oman and Kenya to look into the matter and is expected to receive a report with the names and details of the crew members by this morning, according to Foreign Ministry sources.
The ship was hijacked approximately 120 nautical miles off the coast of Oman, the EU naval force said in a statement.
The crew of 23 Sri Lankans, a Filipino and a Syrian were held along with the 11,000-tonne Bermudan-flagged, was heading from Egypt to Iran.
Meanwhile the Sri Lankans marooned in Somalia after being released by Somali pirates recently arrived in the island this morning, according to sources at the consular division of the Foreign Ministry. The journey of the captain and two engineers had been facilitated by the Foreign Ministry.

In a previous news item, it was stated that salary was paid to the crew. Now as per the above new item, foreign mnistry is yet to receive the names. Based on this, where and whom the salary was paid? All these dramas for the elections.

Which doctor examined them while in custody? Trying to get political gains by this poor statements!!! Many sailors are in trouble waters and nothing government can do and will do for the safety of the poor crew.
