The Colombo Additional Magistrate today reprimanded the police saying that sufficient time had been granted by the court to conclude investigations into the case involving journalist Susil Kindelpitiya but the Police have failed to meet the deadline
Consequently the Magistrate asked Police to accelerate matters and conclude investigations and submit a report in court on June 17. The suspects were further remanded till that date.
The Government Analyst informed the Colombo Additional Magistrate that the weapon recovered from the vehicle of journalist Susil Kindelpitiya was a pistol.
Journalist Susil Kumara Kindelpitiya, Uggalage Ruwan Kumara and Wijeyamuni Dishantha Amarasinghe alias Kalu Malli were arrested by the Mirihana Police Special Investigation Unit on May 20 allegedly on a complaint of abducting a woman and following the recovery of a gun from the vehicle in which the suspects and the complainant traveled.
Mirihana Police making submissions submitted that the report on the finger prints of the suspect were not received by the Finger Print Bureau and objected for granting bail to suspects as the investigations were not over.

We need to assess what we want. Do we want a police force who is being reprimanded all the time? Afterall we are trying to a country at par with Singapore

There is nothing to investigate, they are just carrying out the orders from top to keep him in remand. Poor Police, they are helpless.
