Two individuals, who had fled the area after they had posed as CID officers and had assaulted residents in the Gala-weva area in Anamadu last night, were arrested by the Anamaduwa police today.
Accordingly, four individuals who had posed as CID officers had broken doors of two houses in the area and had assaulted its occupants. When the residents had asked for identification, the four suspects had failed to produce a valid ID. Later they had fled the area.
The police had arrested two of the four suspects while they were fleeing in a vehicle. The police also seized a firearm and 92 bullets. When the police arrested the two suspects they were under the influence of alcohol.
While one suspect is a resident of the Beliatte area, the other was from Polgasovita. The suspects were scheduled to be produced before the Puttlam magistrate today.
