The Colombo Fort Magistrate today rejected bail for a director of HICORP, a company allegedly owned by the son-in-law of Presidential candidate General Sarath Fonseka, and ordered that he be remanded further.

Dismissing the bail application filed on behalf of the suspect Welington De Hoedt, Colombo Fort Magistrate Ms. Lanka Jayaratne observed that there were no special reasons to grant bail on the suspect.

The suspect is said to have acted as a director of HICORP Private Company and was arrested and produced in court by the CID on January 7 for allegedly cheating public money by forwarding the Power of Attorney and other documents to the Sri Lanka Army. The CID began investigations into the matter sequel to a complaint made by Major General Manawadu of Sri Lanka Army and the suspect was arrested and remanded.

when the deals were bigger than 250 Million then the commissions paid were bigger too!

We Sri Lankans, are more intelligent now, than in the past!

they are try to cover their rubbish by using sf son-in-law's white clothes.days are not far to dig that rubbish.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 03:28 PM

maybe, but where is the proof? SF was also on the board of LANKA LOGISTICS, with def sec, three forces commanders, sec to min of finance. if SF has proof of corruption, he would have said.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 03:26 PM

This company does belong to the Son in law of SF. look at the documents

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 03:25 PM

why don't you make a complaint? this case was brought there was a complaint along with evidence.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 03:11 PM

you are absolutely correct, this regime is under panic now, creating stories

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 03:10 PM

CID will never investigate LANKA LOGISTICS, that is before 26th Jan

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 02:58 PM

I agree with sanjaya... these desparate measures and never ending arrests of opposition candidates/family members/supportes will only back fire on the MR regime... they are going to lose more votes by the day ...

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 01:21 PM

What a pity? Another family govering in the making?

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 02:02 PM

Whatever said, WHO AUTHORIZED THE PURCHASE AND WHO SIGNED THE CONTRACT FOR THE SUPPLY AND OPENED THE LC?
Fonseka can recommend a purchase depending on the quality & usage , therefore the person involved in signing the LC papers be held responsible.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 02:02 PM

    Mr Nobrain,

You haven;t got the correct picture yet i think. Lanka logistics handles purchases exeeding certain amount as iI can remember it is 250 milloion. purchases below that amount can be handled by the respective forces under its tender board. All the purchases done with Tthis company lies below this amount. hence lanka logistics has no jurisdiction over these purchases.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 01:54 PM

I agree to "nobrain"s comments, but the point is like the sinhala saying baduth hamodorowange naduth hamudorowange. The directors of Lanka Logistics are people we all know.

I also would like to express some views re the CID, we have seen in the past for any small suspicious incident how they go and arrest people on terrorist crime. But I recently saw on TV that the first son was shown in a pic. with a wanted terrorist funder. This is a serious act, what has the CID done on this to date. he has to be questioned isn't it...?

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 01:46 PM

This company does not even belong to the son-in-law of SF. The mudslinging campaign of the govt. is backfiring and they are losing supporters day by day.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 01:36 PM

What about real deals of other people in the government. We have no faith in judiciry system and people have a limit of toleration.. It will be the peples verdict day.. not anyone elses.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 01:29 PM

they said all arms deals will be corruption free because it's done through a company called "LANKA LOGISTICS" and it's headed by responsilbe individuals close to the president himself. now, arent they responsible for this? and CID should look into all the deals done through this agency. make them transparent to public.

    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 01:27 PM

    Bail will be granted on....?.
