Leading global smartphone company Vivo recently launched the 24 Megapixel Selfie-Shooter ‘V7’ to Sri Lanka, at a glittering launch event held at Cinnamon Grand, Colombo.

Introduced in 2009, Vivo is a leading global brand dedicated to smartphone devices, which focuses on innovating perfect sound quality and ultimate photography with cutting-edge technology. The company is a subsidiary of parent company BBK Electronics and is based in Dongguan Guangdong, China. The company is headed by President and CEO Shen Wei.

The chief guest at the event, Vivo Sri Lanka CEO Max Wang officially unveiled the latest instalment to Vivo’s ever-expanding portfolio, the V7.

Vivo DGM Commercial Austin Peng addressed the gathering to educate them on the brand and its intentions towards Sri Lanka’s economy.

He expressed that Vivo is within the ‘Global Top Five Smartphone Brands’, with a consumer base of close to 200 million. With four production bases globally, Vivo also houses six Research Centres globally. Vivo is the proud official sponsor of 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups, apart from partnering with other premium brands such as IPL and NBA. “Although we are new to this market, we want to be a leader in it. We will face the mark-up challenge and we have lots of things to be done. In the coming three years, we want to input more than 1000 employees. We want to portray more than 2000 dealer shops across the whole island. But most importantly, we will invest US $ 22 million. As the newcomers to this country, we want to take more social responsibility. We love this country; we love the people living here. We want to make a bigger contribution, so that is what we are going to do. This is Vivo. Love Vivo, Love Sri Lanka,” said Peng.

According to Counterpoint’s latest research, Vivo was ranked as the fifth largest smartphone manufacturer globally in 3Q17, with a market share of 7.1 percent. Vivo recorded the highest year-over-year growth of 32 percent in global smartphone shipments.
