TNA for UNHRC resolution seeking more time for Lanka

16 February 2019 05:01 pm - 4     - {{hitsCtrl.values.hits}}

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) said yesterday it would stand for a fresh resolution to be moved by some western countries asking for more time for Sri Lanka to implement the provisions of the previous UNHRC resolution.

The United Kingdom announced earlier that a resolution would be moved at the next month's session of the UNHRC in this regard .

Asked for comments on this, TNA MP M.A.Sumanthiran said his party would see it not as an extension of time but as an extension of international oversight.

Therefore, he said the TNA would support the main move. (Kelum Bandara)

    Question to MA Sumanthiran. It is same whether extension of time or extension of international oversight. So why are you trying to mislead?

    Mr.SumanthiranWhy don't you ask a good land from EU than living here in the dry Zone? TNA is not giving anything to Tamil people rather than following a dream which will never come true. Please let us to live with peace and harmony with all nations.

    The Sri Lnkan government and/or TNA or even Weatern countries wish for extension of time. These lot did not pay the price of the war and are not the ones suffering since the war concluded. The victims of the brutal war are still suffering and are continuing to suffer without an end. These victims will be relieved of their grief, pain and hardships only when accountability for all types of war crimes is established. Extension of time is certain to prolong the pain , grief and hardships further. This is not justified at all.
