President Maithripala Sirisena today assured that the government would not curtail the Samurdhi benefits to any of the recipients.
He said there were a large number of people who were yet to receive these benefits.
"The number of Samurdhi recipients will be increased but the benefits will not be curtailed," he said at a ceremony held in Embilipitiya.

One reason we cannot find labour, even at Rs. 1000/ per day is this "Samurdi Benefits". They openly ask me, why work when this government gives money for NOT working!!
