President Maithripala Sirisena has said that when appointing a Cabinet minister, the person selected must not only be acceptable locally but also internationally.
This had transpired when the BBC Sinhala channel interviewed the President during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in London.
The President said he had to consider the international atmosphere as well when he was asked about the views expressed in the country as to who should be appointed as Law and Order Minister.
"The one who is to be appointed to a ministerial portfolio should have local and international recognition," he said.

Anyone without performing in a particular post how could he be internationally recognized.Our mps and ministers come as frogs in the well after getting the post they are very clever in looting internationally and locally

Oh! Yes!. Many are internationally negatively recognised as crooks or corrupt. An internationally positively recognised General has been refused the relevant cabinet post.

No, he cannot be looking for an excuse as Field Marshal is internationally recognised. I think he now wants to appoint Fonseka. If he does want to do that then, after going abroad, the President has opened his eyes wider to see better.

Who has higher education qualification? who has relevant work experience related to his/her minister portfolio? Who can use international language fluently? If one speak about other, first he should have it !

WHAT international recognition do people like Dayasiri, Dilan, Muttetuwagama and many others have?¡?? Just having gone on Government delegations with President or Prime Minister does not mean international recognition! Those are rewards they get for "SHOPPING" for the leaders!!!!

If International recognition is required then it should start from the President himself. You are more concerned about your political party, International community and your family than our mother Lanka. You all should be good for SL first before satisfying anyone else. If you cared about International recognition, you shouldn’t have taken crooks and politicians rejected by people into your cabinet.
