The Junior Davis Cup qualifying tournament contested by 13 teams which got underway at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo saw the Sri Lanka juniors comprising of Chathurya Nilaweera, Thehan Wijemanne and Dilvan Herath come out victorious 3-0 over Oman.
Chathurya was in top form as he won two of the matches -- first winning the singles encounter against Marwan Faiz Khanjan and then partnering Dilvan Herath got the better of the Omani pair Azzan Marwan and Marwan Faiz Khanjan.
Thehan Wijemanne overcame Muneer Tufail Al Rawahi in a singles encounter.
Sri Lanka juniors will clash against Bahrain at 9.00 a.m. today.
The Junior Davis Cup is being contested by 13 countries namely Bahrain, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Lebanon, Malaysia, Oman, Pacific Oceania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Syria, Turkmenistan, Vietnam and host Sri Lanka.
The Junior Federation Cup is also being conducted concurrently at the same venue which is contested by ten teams comprising of Bangladsh, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Pacific Oceania, Philippine, Qatar, Singapore, Thurkmenistan and Vietnam.
