SLII Graduation Ceremony 2015

The inaugural graduation ceremony of the SLII took place on 20th February, 2015 at the Bishop’s College Auditorium. The event was sponsored by the ‘Malaysian branch’ of Hannover Re who have been closely working with SLII towards development of professionalism through conducting seminars and training programs. Mr Chandra Schaffter, Deputy Chairman of Janashakthi Insurance PLC graced the occasion as the chief Guest.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Schaffter highlighted the importance of professionalism in the insurance industry and congratulated the graduates on achieving a high level of academic and professional standards.

The President of the SLII, Mr Keerthiratne elaborated on the contribution by way of providing education rendered by the SLII to the Sri Lankan insurance industry and also drawing from his personal experiences, highlighted on the importance of professional education.

A large number of Award winners received their certificates at the ceremony and was a great opportunity for them to celebrate their achievements amidst a large gathering from the industry and other well wishes.

The Sri Lanka Insurance Institute (SLII) established in 1981 is the premier insurance education professional body in Sri Lanka. SLII has obtained affiliation to two reputed organisations namely the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) of UK and the Insurance Institute of India (III)..

Currently, SLII offers a Diploma in Insurance which is a comprehensive course covering all aspects of insurance and specialisation in either Life or Non-Life. This Diploma caters to those who are employed in Insurance. Also, the Certificate in Insurance which is a joint programme with the CII, UK is a core qualification for insurance staff working across all sectors. For those who wish to begin their career in Insurance, SLII offers the Insurance Foundation Certificate.

In addition to the aforementioned courses, SLII conducts examinations for the Insurance Board of Sri Lanka (IBSL), Pre-recruitment tests for Life Assurance Agents and for General Insurance Agents.
