A stock of arms and ammunition was seized and a suspect arrested by Uhana Police during a raid in Mahakandiya area.
Police said the suspect had in his possession a 12 bore shotgun, four refilled 12 bore cartridges, 443 T56 live cartridges and a stock of 12 bore empty cartridge cases. Investigations revealed that the suspect was a retired Air Force sergeant.
The suspect was to be produced before Ampara Magistrate last morning.
A police team under Uhana Police IP Nimal Karunaratne had carried out the raid on the instructions of Ampara Division SP Jayantha Ratnayaka.
