A 43-year-old convict from Maradana who was found guilty of trafficking and peddling heroin was sentenced to death by the Colombo High Court yesterday.
The convict named Tuan Nizam Sahabdeen Samath alias Baba was sentenced to death by Colombo High Court Judge Dammika Ganepola after observing that the charges levelled against the convict by the Attorney General were proven beyond reasonable doubt by the Prosecution.
The convict was accused to have trafficked and peddled 14.76 grams of heroin at Maradana on November 10, 2012.
He was arrested with the contraband by sleuths of the Police Narcotic Bureau at Maradana .
High Court Judge Dhammika Ganepola delivering his judge after a lengthy trial observed that the prosecution case against the convict was proven beyond reasonable doubt and imposed death sentence on the convict.
