The Government Printer, Ganga Kalpani Liyanage said yesterday that all gazettes sent to her by the Elections Commission (EC) have been printed and sent back to the EC. The date of the general election 2020, serial numbers assigned to each candidate and distinguishing number of each Recognised Political Party, Names of Candidates as set out in the Independent Group Nomination Paper are among them.
In addition, the EC has issued direction to prevent the misuse of movable or immovable properties belonging to the state, state corporations, or statutory boards, during the election period, giving promotions to public officials prejudiced to any political party, or candidates and obstructing the conduct of the election have also been published. Among other releases by the EC to ensure a free and fair election are the code of conduct for political parties, independent groups, candidates and media guidelines are also vital to ensure a free and fair election.
