Prevailing showery and windy conditions are expected to continue over south-western and central hilly areas of the island and the north-western, western, south-western and southern sea areas till Saturday (20), the Meteorology Department said today.
It said cloudy skies could be expected over most parts of the island.
“Strong gusty winds up to (50-60) kmph are likely over the island particularly in Western, Southern, Central, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces, fairly strong gusty winds up to (40-50) kmph can be expected elsewhere,” it said.
The Department said showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Sabaragamuwa, Central, Western, Southern and North-Western provinces while showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere.
It said very heavy falls about 150 mm are likely at some places in Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Kalutara, Galle and Matara districts while heavy falls above I00 mm can be expected at some places in Colombo and Gampaha districts.
