Former Deraniyagala Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Champika Wijesinghe alias Atha Kota, who was sentenced to death after he was found guilty of murdering Noori Estate Superintendent, was sentenced to 24-years of rigorous imprisonment after being found guilty of soliciting a bribe of Rs.500,000 to issue a street line certificate.
The case was taken up for hearing by Colombo High Court Judge Gihan Kulatunge.

24 year rigorous imprisonment, when will it be imopsed? Before or after the death penalty. Why only drug trafficers , we got murderers too on death row ie Duminda.
