Heavy rains resulted in the Mamanadola overflowing its banks and submerging Udalamaththa and Yatalamaththa. The Ginganga is in spate with the Udugama-Nagoda road impassable at Kurupanawa. The rains which began on Tuesday had inundated several areas at Mapalagama in Galle restricting the movement of traffic on the main roads. Nagoda and Udugama police said several houses in Yatalamaththa and the low-lying areas were submerged. Schoolchildren are seen wading across the flooded Yatalamaththa Junction. Pic by Ravi Liyanage
