A Colombo Magistrate issued warrants on the first and second suspects in the alleged white van abduction media briefing case where former Health Minister Rajitha Senartne was also accused to have conducted a media briefing during the election period.
When the matter was taken up for inquiry Colombo Additional Magistrate who became aware that the first and second suspects S. A. Sarath Kumara and A.Sanjeewa Madanayake were not present in court issued warrants for their arrests.
However, during the inquiry it was stated that the two suspects were in remand over some other case.
The Magistrate issued warrants against the suspect as no representations were made in court on their behalf.
The two suspects were accused to have made certain claims regarding white van abductions of civilians during the Mahinda Rajapaksa regime during a media briefing organized by former Minister Rajitha Senaratna during the Presidential Election period.
During the inquiry the third suspect, Former Minister Rajitha Senaratne and the fourth suspect Rumy Marsook were present in court.
The CID informed Court that the recording of statements of the suspects and the witnesses were concluded and they have sought the opinion of the Attorney General over the matter. They moved for a further date to inform court the developments of the case.
The case was postponed for September 25.
