The low pressure area that persists over South East Bay of Bengal and the adjoining South Andaman Sea area is likely to intensify further, bringing heavy thunder showers and high winds, Department of Meteorology said yesterday.
“The low pressure area that persists over the South East Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Andaman sea area is likely move north, westwards. Due to the influence of the system, the showery condition over the island particularly in the south-western part is likely to enhance during the next few days from today.
Wind speed might increase up to 40-50 Kmph at times over the island,” the Department said.
“Showers or thundershowers will occur in Southern, Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central Provinces and elsewhere, particularly in Uva and Eastern provinces in the evening or night,” the department added.
