Forcibly entering playground Kalutara Urban Council Chairman arrested

• Kalutara (South) Police had launched an investigation after  a complaint was lodged that a group of people, including Nazeer, had forcibly entered the  complex

The Chairman of the Kalutara Urban Council Chairman (UNP) M. Ameer Nazeer had been arrested yesterday morning for allegedly entering a playground forcibly, unlawful assembly and violating the quarantine regulations on June 23, the Police said.  

They said that Kalutara (South) Police had launched an investigation after the Manager of the Vernon Fernando Sports Complex in Kalutara lodged a complaint that a group of people, including Nazeer, had forcibly entered the complex.  

Earlier, the Police arrested Opposition Leader of Kalutara Pradeshiya Sabha (UNP) S.A. D. Nilantha and another person over the incident.  

They were later released on bail. 

 
The Police said the Urban Council Chairman was to be produced in the Kalutara Magistrate’s Court.
