With the death of a 72-year-old coronavirus patient from Polpithigama in the Kurunegala District yesterday, Sri Lanka registers a total of eight COVID-19 deaths, Health Services Director General Dr. Anil Jasinghe said yesterday.
The latest victim was a 72-year-old woman who had been undergoing treatment at the Homagama Hospital. According to health authorities, she had also been suffering from a kidney ailment. The latest death comes after almost a month since the seventh fatality was reported on April 8 when a gem businessman from Mount Lavinia fell victim to the virus.
