Silk Air recognised as Asia-Pacific's Best Regional Airline for the tenth time

SilkAir has been voted Asia-Pacific’s ‘Best Regional Airline’ this year by readers of TTG, an established travel trade newspaper in Asia, for the tenth time. The award was presented last night at the 20th Annual TTG Travel Awards 2009 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The ‘Best Regional Airline’ award honours the carrier offering the best in-flight service, network and schedules within the Asia-Pacific region. Readers of TTG Asia, TTG China, TTGmice and TTG-BTmice China voted for SilkAir in this category.

The annual TTG Travel Awards, presented by TTG Publishing, seeks to honour the luminaries in Asia-Pacific’s travel industry. The TTG Travel Awards 2009 honour the best in Asia’s hospitality, tourism, services and travel industries by offering 76 awards across four categories: airlines, hotels, spas and travel agents. Winners in these categories are determined by votes cast by TTG readers across Asia Pacific.

Chief Executive SilkAir, Mr Chin Yau Seng, who received the award on behalf of the airline said: “We are deeply honoured to be voted ‘Best Regional Airline’ by TTG Readers this year, for the tenth time. SilkAir views this award in high regard as the TTG Travel Awards is one of the travel industry’s most distinguished forms of recognition. Winning this award will definitely spur us on to achieve even higher service standards and renew our commitment to provide top quality service to our customers.”

As a tenth time winner, SilkAir is eligible to enter the TTG Travel Hall of Fame from next year onwards. There are already six Travel Hall of Fame honoraries including Singapore Airlines and Singapore Changi Airport. Companies which have been conferred the prestigious Travel Hall of Fame title will no longer compete in subsequent awards; instead TTG will continue to commemorate them annually.

This win is the latest in a series of international awards that SilkAir has received this year. In September, SilkAir was voted in the Top 10 List of Best Airlines Worldwide for Cabin Service by Hong Kong-based online travel magazine, Smart Travel Asia. In June, SilkAir was voted ‘Best Regional Airline (Southeast Asia)’ in the 2009 Skytrax World Airline Awards.
