Fifty eight million rupees as compensation and salary dues were handed over to 39 families of the deceased and disabled migrant workers in Middle Eastern countries by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Harsha de Silva today.
Among the 39 migrant workers, 27 of them died while working in countries including Saudi Arabia which has the highest number of deaths, followed by United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Dubai and Jordan. Pix by Samantha Perera

Where is our Pension boss ? Previous gov't promised a pension. Thank you for calling us Ratagiya aththo. After 5 years we have a voter base of 1.6 million and we will vote for a government who gives us a pension.

How much did the Minister of Foreign Affairs Harsha de Silva, really receive, the original amount prior to the bureaucratic Crows consuming the meat, and leaving the bones for the unfortunate 39 Families in the transfer......eh? In the last fifty years many things have changed in Sri Lanka except for the way people think!
