Bogawantalawa Tea Estates PLC, producer of some of the world’s finest teas, unveiled its new flagship store at the Transit Lounge, Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) recently.
The new retail shop marks a new chapter in the company’s legacy of producing, marketing and exporting the finest teas in the world.
Present at the opening was BTE PLC Chairman Dinesh Ambani together with BTE PLC Chief Executive Officer Jayampathi Molligoda, Bogawantalwa Tea Marketing (Pvt.) Ltd Chief Operating Officer Vijitha Liyanage, Chief Financial Controller Chamari Wahalathanthri, Bogawantalawa Tea Marketing (Pvt.) Ltd Senior Vice President Marketing Jayantha Ratwatte, BTE PLC&BTM (Pvt.) Ltd Head of Procurement and Business Development Abhishek Ambani and BTE PLC Chief Internal Auditor Sunil Rajapakse along with other officers of the company, including Bogawantalawa Tea Marketing (Pvt.) Ltd Head of Local Marketing Chandima Weerasinghe. Also present were officials of the Airport Civil Aviation Authority and other invitees.
Commenting on the newly opened store, Deputy Chairman Lailth Ambani said, “The retail store at BIA marks a fresh direction for the brand. We have introduced a number of new products and special packaging designed to appeal to international buyers. The team at Bogawantalawa and our partners in this project have worked extremely hard to make it a success and we are justifiably proud with the finished product. Our concept was to recreate a ‘tea estate’ feel and give the customer a more organic experience when purchasing tea.”
Among the new varieties on offer are single estate teas from Bogawantalawa prestige estates (Norwood, Loinorn and Illukthenne), an wholly organic tea collection that includes both black and green tea varieties, flavoured organic teas using natural flavours of Sri Lankan fruits and an attractive gift pack range.
