West Indies beat Australia by 74 runs in the second semi-final on Friday to book a place in Sunday's final against hosts Sri Lanka.

Chris Gayle (75 not out) and Kieron Pollard (38) toyed with Australia's bowling as West Indies posted a mammoth 205 for four before returning to bowl out Australia for 131 in 16.4 overs.

Australia captain George Bailey top-scored for his team with a 29-ball 63.

Gayle blasted six sixes and five boundaries in his 41-ball knock and Pollard (38 off 15 balls) hit three successive sixes in the final over of the innings to take West Indies past the 200-run mark.

Dwayne Bravo (37) also feasted on Australia's bowling attack, hitting three sixes in his 31-ball knock, while Marlon Samuels chipped in with 26 runs. (Reuters)

If SL past record against WI is any indication then we do have a glimse of hope. But there should be no let ups, no complecencies. I am sure Mahela is a grate captain since he who introduced ruthlessness in the team. I wish them all success in the big game on Sunday.

Thisara Perera should come in towards the end of first 10 overs with a good anchor player like Mahela or Sanga... Thisara needs some time in the crease to get stable and hit those big ones. We need the hitters.. Im not too sure about Dananjaya or Herath.. Mahela will decide that accurately for sure. Phew!!! This is awesome!

Gayle seems to be smarter in shot selection now. Pollard back in form. Sri Lanka is the team in form yet . SL top order has to be smarter than ever before. Quality spin bowling is the key! Toss is vital.

A change in team is needed urgently. Bring in specialist bat Chandimal or Tharanga to replace J Mendis. More control from Malinga, no wides, no no-balls. Keep Herat, he is INSPIRATION 110%. The bands, the flags, Sri Lanka will have the best Carnival in the World.
