A Jaffna court has issued an arrest warrant on an EPDP member over his involvement in the abduction and murder of a youth in Chaavakachcheri, reports from Jaffna said. Three students were earlier arrested over the murder of Thiruchelvam Kapilthev, a student of Chaavakachcheri Hindu College.

The Court has also instructed the Department of Immigration and Immigration not to permit the EPDP member to leave the country, reports further added.

The victim was abducted for ransom from his house last week and the body was later recovered from a house of one of the suspects over the weekend. (Daily Mirror online)

Is this the first time a court had the guts to catch EPDP abductors? They also came after me in Dec 2007 in Colombo but I evaded. Can produce evidence.

why cant the colombo high court do the same to Dutugamunu and other culprints in Parliment. I guess since they have the backing from the biggest culprite, there is nothing that could be done. Oh where is the justice we all yearn for

    Tuesday, 30 March 2010 06:52 AM

No use, the accuse would escape with the support of government and immigration dept too unable to do anything. Only god if there will bring the culprit to justice

    Tuesday, 30 March 2010 07:15 AM

All those who are doing abduction as trade should be punished with death penalty. The penalty must be done in open place in order to know the fate of others in the same group.

    Tuesday, 30 March 2010 07:27 AM

Some one in told to hang 3 students who were arrested earlier. Except justice system every one in Jaffna knows who did this and who makes a living by these type of mafia activities.

    Tuesday, 30 March 2010 07:52 AM

How many stunning orders we have seen to see the muderers, goons, liers and cheaters to continue with their portfolios and hifi life...and we even saw the smart leader of the EPDP at the funeral house (highly worrying about his votes)

    Tuesday, 30 March 2010 03:49 PM

Not only the accused will escape - he will possibly come back as a Minister!

    Tuesday, 30 March 2010 06:42 PM

EPDP cannot be arrested since they are supporters of the regime?
