Violence in Dambulla

Several UPFA candidates and their supporters are protesting in various parts of Dambulla against a candidate backed by a powerful government Minister in the area alleging that he has climbed to the top spot in preferential votes illegally in in the Dambulla Municipal Council.

They had thrown stones at the Minister's house and then clashed with the police. Police said that the situation is under control and security has been tightened in the area.

According to ground reports the candidates and their supporters are blocking roads and wearing black bands and holding black flags. (Supun Dias and Kanchana Kumara Ariyadasa)

    Same party supporters are protesting of illegal preferential votes. So imagine how long normal civilian will believe in this elections. Poor voting turnout is the answer.
