Strong winds slam Trinco

Over 200 houses in Trincomalee have been damaged due to strong winds and urgent measures are being taken to provide temporary shelters for the families, Trincomalee Government Agent, Major General Ranjith De Silva told Daily Mirror online.

The most number of houses have been damaged in the Morawewa and Padavi areas and out of the 213 houses broken, 20 houses have been completely destroyed.

Major General De Silva said that all measures were being taken to look after the displaced people. (JN)

Only after 1 year ,IDP's Sorrows, Can you remember how their lives were, now others will become rufugeees due to Rains,Winds, ....next? Why does nature punish?Frequency of Punishments are becomming high.Why? In China many killed due to earthquakes? Why?These are the Signs of what? So what is the solution for it?

Our Met dept is not proactive on alerting ppl on disasters like this.
They knew there is a cyclone off Trinco yest and today, but no prediction of winds speeds that can hit Trinco to Jaffna strip.

When will our Met Dept act proactively and prevent damages?
Innovation thinking is needed. Dept is too conventional.
