Jayalalithaa today said that  the issue of Tamil Nadu fishermen and the plight of Sri Lankan Tamils figured prominently in her talks with the Prime Minister and that the meeting with Prime Minister was a very positive one.

Addressing a presser after the meeting at 7 RCR, Jayalalithaa said the PM held out hope for the state. Jayalalithaa said she wanted friendly relations with the Centre in the interests of development of the state.

Responding to questions on joining hands with the Congress, She said that talks of political realignment were premature. She said she has not been approached by anyone in the UPA so the question of joining the UPA did not arise. Jayalalithaa refused to react when asked about DMK's fears over her growing closeness with the Centre.

Jayalalithaa said the issue of Tamil Nadu fishermen and the plight of Sri Lankan Tamils figured prominently in her talks with the Prime Minister.
She said the national security advisor was also present in the meeting.

Earlier, Jayalalithaa reached 7 RCR at around 12 noon in a special vehicle that was sent by PMO to bring her from Tamil Nadu bhavan. This ensured she did not have to go through the hassle of routine security clearance at 7 RCR. (The Times of India)
