The Southern Express Way (SEW) is scheduled to be declared open on November 27 by President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Galle.
Chairman, Road Development Authority (RDA) Ranjith Premasiri said President Rajapaksa will proceed on the RDA up to Welipenna after opening ceremony at Galle at 11.00 a.m. and open a plaque to mark the official opening of Sri Lanka first toll express way.
The collection of toll will be under four categories on the SEW. Rs. 400 for light vehicles or motor cars, Rs. 800 for mini buses small Lorries, Rs. 1,200 for Lorries and six wheelers and Rs. 2,000 for heavy vehicles, Mr. Premasiri said.
A lower rate will be charged if the vehicle terminates the journey in between and resting places have been set for commuters in the midway between Galle and Kottawa, he added. (By Sandun A. Jayasekera)

Very good initiative. 400 rupees for car is too much almost equivalent USD5.00 and could be the highest toll fee in the world. The RDA should seriously consider reducing it about 2 00 USDollar equivalent and gradually consider increasing a bit more

Excellent...!!!!
We need Colombo/Kandy and Colombo/Katunayaka as well. This is due to heavy traffic on these roads. Subsequently, can be extended to other areas.

Police will have to patrol the highway constantly to ensure rules are followed.
