The Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) is expected to hold a protest this afternoon in front of the University Grants Commission due to which parts of Ward Place has already been closed and riot police deployed.
According to the Convener of the IUSF, Udul Premaratne, the protest is being held due to a four year special degree course in allied sciences being slashed to three years.
The protest is the third to be held in weeks. (Daily Mirror online)

4 years to 3 years no problem. Study the entire 3 years and strike for 1 year.

Practical training in real work environment is essential for all health-care degree courses as well as clinical medicine courses. Doing other-wise may be detrimental, or even fatal to human beings suffering from illnesses. I take that the fourth year in the degree course is meant for that. So why not grant the students' demand?

No point , all the people in UGC and Higher education Ministry has become puppets of GMOA, to keep their vito power within the hospitals... this is total tribal... tribal work of GMOA.
