Waste of another career. I think he has done enough to the country should relax and enjoy the rest of his life with his family. I don't see why he should waste his life for a nation full of ungrateful people. remember what happened to SF?

No Hope Saturday, 13 July 2013 06:28 AM

Actually this is a very good and correct and right decision of Ranil and the Ex-Judge.
But the sad thing; if he surrounded by culprits and thugs ???? (Our idiot voters may vote for him ???)
    Wish him all the success.

    Ajantha Friday, 12 July 2013 10:56 PM

Very good move. I also heard a person with a doctorate contesting for some PC. This is the time that educated people come in to Sri Lankan politics (whatever their political vision, UNP or SLFP). The very reason for the current plight of the country is that learned people keeping away from politics and keep mum on wrong things. Good luck Mr Warawewa

    FAWAZ Saturday, 13 July 2013 06:27 AM

very best to hear. OUR COUNTRY needs like these people. we welcome you sir.

Ayesha Arambepola Friday, 12 July 2013 10:56 PM

A good move Sir, you have waited enough, honest men and w. women should come out to fight injustice and corruption in the country. politics should not be shunned always as dirty. People like you should clean it by coming forward. we await more people like you to contest election in the future.

    sss Friday, 12 July 2013 11:09 PM

With most of its hooligans (like Dominda) with the government, is UNP going back to pre JR times - the party of gentle men and women

    Mason Saturday, 13 July 2013 06:38 AM

Courageous people like you are what the country needs today. Good luck and may you be victorious.

    Maamismi Saturday, 13 July 2013 12:13 AM

This clearly shows that his judgements on certain 'sensitive' cases were politically motivated and biased. High ranking judges (even after retirement) should not go into active politics. If they do so, their judgements will be questionable.

Ralph Anthony Saturday, 13 July 2013 07:09 AM

Your participation will boost the party. With best wishes.

    acord Sunday, 14 July 2013 01:10 PM

government fill file another case against him very soon....

    M.O.A. Careem Saturday, 13 July 2013 12:18 AM

If one by one comes? the outcome?

Calistus Jayatilleke Saturday, 13 July 2013 07:15 AM

Educated, honest leaders are just what the country needs at this juncture. But the big question is would the brain-washed electorate vote for such gentlemen when all they have been told is that only the hooligans, thugs, rapists and murderers are the only ones capable of doing politics in this country under this government.

    sobers Saturday, 13 July 2013 07:14 AM

His master's Choice. very good, but remember you are going into a dirty game of politics ,where decency doesn't prevail. But the quality will prefer you immaterial of the party you belong to.

    doratupala Sunday, 14 July 2013 04:15 AM

Make him the Chief Ministerial candidate, that will add more weight to the UNP campaign

    sarath Saturday, 13 July 2013 12:33 AM

what is the reasonable inference that a reasonable man can draw. people will deliberately and maliciously lie but not the circumstances. who is HC Warawewa is a question for you.

    Rednaxa Sunday, 14 July 2013 04:25 AM

My Best Wishes to this Gentleman.

    Anima Saturday, 13 July 2013 12:33 AM

    areef Saturday, 13 July 2013 07:38 AM

    Major Saturday, 13 July 2013 04:56 PM

    chamith Sunday, 14 July 2013 05:24 PM

unp is a gentlemen party.it's high time for gentlemen to contest from unp

    Gamini Saturday, 13 July 2013 01:36 AM

    Finally UNP got a leader.

    GC Saturday, 13 July 2013 08:34 AM

This is how public spirited and service minded people act: They do a real good job and get real life experience. Then think about serving the country, instead of being a career politician whose first and only job is being an MP and the only experience is politics and, perhaps, corruption.

    Shantha S Saturday, 13 July 2013 01:42 AM

Beginning of the end of corruption and corrupt politics. Expect major changes in constitution. Independent commissions and a lot more. Good for the nation.

    Major Saturday, 13 July 2013 05:11 PM

What education you guys are talking about..? Marvin uncle has a degree too.

    GC Saturday, 13 July 2013 08:36 AM

I must add, the educated ones with some real life experience of doing a real life job, instead of those who go straight into politics.
