Ranjan, Prasanna top Gampaha list

Former MP Ranjan Ramanayaka has obtained 216,463 preferential votes in the UNP lists in the Gampha district while Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga has topped the UPFA list with 384,448 preferential votes.

UNP Candidates Arjuna Ranatunga (165,890 votes) and Ruwan Wijewardena (157,932 votes) placed at the second and third places in the UNP list respectively.

Arjuna will go back to SLFP at the right time. He is not the type of person to betray his late fathers legacy and loyalty to the party. This was a temporary shift since he detested MR. In 1977, UNP destroyed and set fire to their ancestral home in Udugampola. This is just before he he captained his alma mater Ananda College. Must have been a terrible time as a teenager.
