"Ali Baby" surrenders

The UPFA member of the Weligapola pradeshiya Sabha Wasantha also known as "Ali Baby" who is a suspect in the murder of a 21 year old youth has surrendered to the Rathnapura Police a short while ago.

Villagers are reported to have celebrated the arrest, lighting crackers in the area. The STF was rushed in for the funeral of the youth after angry villagers protested against the murder.

Wonder what is happening to our country with most of the murderers and drug dealers getting elected to provincial councils and the parliament. The fault lies equally with the political parties who nominate such low characters to contest and also the voters who get carried away with these third-grade candidates. Anyway, it is heartening to note that the public are not hesitant to provide "instant justice" to these scum of the earth.
