Parvathi Pillai was in hospital since last month due to complicated illnesses, including a heart problem. At the time of her admission to hospital last month Parvathi was partially paralyzed and a diabetic. Lately, she had sunk into severe depression and stopped taking meals. The reason being that her three remaining children living in Denmark, Canada and India not willing to visit Sri Lanka, though helping her financially.

i was amazed by the above comments.
Did any one of you ever heard Prabakaran's parents pleading his son to give up killing people for the sake of man kind???
I think NO is the answer.
Pathetic for those innocent mothers, fathers, sons, daughters and clergy who died during that terrible period of time.
Our fools in paradise soon forget the past.

May she attain Nibbana in the near future...
We don't really know what sort of suffering she herself might have gone through during the time of her son; and sadly, after bearing three other children, she passed away alone...

but, she could have shown the correct path to her son or at least her grandson. Parents are indirectly responsible for the work of their adult 'childrens' work.

    kp Sunday, 20 February 2011 04:33 PM

oh yeah. Yes, very true. Prabhakaran would have stopped his war because of his mother. Yeah....

You know how stupid you sound, right??

    tharanga Sunday, 20 February 2011 04:32 PM

well said! This hatred should end. Pointless. Nothing good has come of it, and nothing good ever will... for either side

    steve Sunday, 20 February 2011 03:35 PM

Why bother to justify anything now when she is dead and gone !

    mike Sunday, 20 February 2011 04:54 AM

may you not give birth to such a monster who ruined lives /families & was the biggest liar on earth in your future journey. sad to see your children abandon you! is that ths tamil culture your son talked about?

    Calistus J. Sunday, 20 February 2011 06:45 AM

RIP, End of another sad chapter.

    Sethu Sunday, 20 February 2011 06:00 AM

They are afraid to come, which is unfounded as SL has nothing against them. Nothing to do with "TAMIL CULTURE". Read and think broadly.

This lady partly responsible for everything her son did. How she brought up her miserable children affect the whole world for all the bad reason. I got injured at Pettah.

    roshan Sunday, 20 February 2011 05:19 AM

sad news , but don't go where your son go

    Raja Sunday, 20 February 2011 05:19 AM

It is true she cannot be held responsible for what any of her adult children did. However, if she never condemned any of her sons criminal actions and if she had enjoyed any of what her son provided through such criminal action, then, she need to be held responsible for her sons actions.

    Ezhilini Sunday, 20 February 2011 04:56 AM

just to remind you Nimal.. kabitigollawa was not the start.
Start was long ago. 1956, 1977 and 1983. They are the reason for kabitigollawa and the Sencholai, air raid too.

    chandima Sunday, 20 February 2011 04:54 AM

As a buddhist , I wish she'll find peace and happiness, and path to Nibbana, soon in her next life.

Although I know her son will suffer in hell for many eons to come, we should wish him Nibbana, the ultimate peace at the end of his suffering.

    Rajitha Sunday, 20 February 2011 04:46 AM

may you rot in hell along with your murderous son

Can't say go to ....., because your son is there. it's not your fault but you are wrong too by accepting what Terrorist Prabakaran did. What Tamil people and Sinhala people want is to live with freedom.

    abhishek Sunday, 20 February 2011 03:38 AM

I was very near to nugegoda bomb blast.....i felt the fear of people falling down and running for life...

remmbering that i am also happy !!

    Yehiya-Doha Sunday, 20 February 2011 03:35 AM

Very sad. Her children not interested last minitues.

    nimal Sunday, 20 February 2011 03:32 AM

I dont know whether some of the above people have forgotten the deaths, mayhem created by her son....killing innocent bhikkus to bus loads of innocent people in kabathigollawa !!

    ila Sunday, 20 February 2011 03:24 AM

when someone is adult their take their own responsibility for their acitons. if that is so, she is not responsible for anything whater her son did before he died.

Tharaka Chanaka Sunday, 20 February 2011 03:19 AM

RIP...forgive all the countries who denied you a visa for your health.

    Kumi Sunday, 20 February 2011 07:26 AM

You are correct Mike. Most of the Tamils have left Sri Lanka leaving their aged parents. They have become very selfish. Quite sad, isn't it ?

    noushin Sunday, 20 February 2011 07:45 AM

We can't put the blame on Parwathi for what Prabaharan did .No mother likes to hear anyone tells him her son is a terrorist.May she attain peace.

    mike Sunday, 20 February 2011 07:38 AM

in 56 or 77 they did not kill any people. 83' was created by LTTE who killed army personel & got what they wanted -communal tension. but 83 was political organised gangs came from no where & not same village people. ask UNP how this happened they wl answer you. also is it a right reason to kill innocent peseants who were very peaceful n cultivating their lands?? anyway GOD looked at SL & prabha got his karma

    I Hussein Sunday, 20 February 2011 07:37 AM

I feel sorry for this poor lady. Imagin what she must have gone thru all her life. Its true that VP was her son. Is it her fault?
I wish this trauma (terrorism) never occured. Let us all live peacefully. Past his sad and stinking, lets not dig.
    Sympathies!!!

    All TAMILS ARE HAPPY.

Sherman G. de Silva Sunday, 20 February 2011 07:30 AM

As a Protestant Christian I would like to remind the readers who may have a plethora of righteous reasons to be indignant, the Bible teaches that God does not take pleasure even in the death of a wicked man. May the Lord judge her according His wisdom!

    Dandeniya Sunday, 20 February 2011 07:26 AM

What did she do when her son killed so many Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim and other mothers? Did she even ask him to stop killing them? NO. She had a good time in Madras and their family did nothing. I am sorry I have no sympathy and these people cannot rest in peace. RIP is not for them. I dont understand why such stories should even make headlines today. Only if you could hear the heartbeat of the suffering today.. people who lost their mothers and children. Those orphans or those people wbo were made by the terrorist prabakaran. Bring on the National Peace Council and their friends.

    Nimal Sunday, 20 February 2011 03:02 AM

May she attain peace. Parents cannot be held responsible for all what their adult children do... She also might have been a victim of her very own son.
May God bless her and prevent her meeting her son again...

    god Sunday, 20 February 2011 07:19 AM

and killing of tamil politicians too ..remember amitharalingham?

    Vera Sunday, 20 February 2011 07:22 AM

I doubt that you will join soon him (prabakaran) if you do not try to heal yourself. Anger, hatred do no any good. If you cannot forgive this lady (who we do not know if responsible at all for her sons actions) at least try to forgive her for your own mental health.

    FMF Sunday, 20 February 2011 07:22 AM

    Stop talking rubbish Nimal

Oyage sudu kella Sunday, 20 February 2011 07:13 AM

I am not a LTTE sympathizer, but don't forget that all North East people too felt the same what you felt in Colombo, throughout the last 30 years !!

    Selvam-Canada Sunday, 20 February 2011 07:09 AM

Anyways she's blessed to have died in her PEACEFUL MOTHERLAND. May she rest in peace.

    Matalan Sunday, 20 February 2011 07:04 AM

I agree with Nimal (at the top). She may have suffered so much in a different way due to the misgivings of her ruthless son. To scorn her for her for those, is not right and is unbuddhist. May you attain nibbana!

    A.M.Hassan Sunday, 20 February 2011 07:02 AM

Nahee werena werani - Hassan Abu Dhabi

    rosh Sunday, 20 February 2011 06:54 AM

Very well, according to you, the barberian LTTE did was tit for tat. Excellent. Now the whole bunch is rottn in hell. Sure this old lady will rest in peace. Not like her son who rests in many PIECES
