I work in the Middle East - a lot of Arabs are Christians who are not prohibited to drink. Shariah cannot apply to Christians unless the offence was committed in a country which practices shariah.

No it is rather too common I am afraid. SOME Arabs who are so very pious, such good Muslims in their own countries, and who look down at 'decadent' and 'sinful' kaffirs, when these Arabs leave their own countries they are drinking, gambling and womanising. One regularly sees this in cities from Bangkok to London, from Manila to Los Angeles. It is the hypocrisy of these particular 'typical' Arabs that disgusts people.
