President Mahinda Rajapaksa will give pardon to 1500 prisoners on the Independence Day, the Ministry of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms said today.

Also, the Ministry is planning to hand over some rehabilitated LTTE cadres to their parents on the day. However, Commissioner General of Rehabilitation Brigadier Sudantha Ranasinghe said that he could not give details about the exact number.

“I will be able to give it tomorrow,” he said. (KB)
