Maithri wants unity in SLFP

President Maithripala Sirisena, at a top level meeting of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), had stressed the need to preserve unity in the party and had appointed a six member committee to resume the dialogue with former President Mahinda Rajapaksa to evolve measures in this direction, sources told the Daily Mirror.

“The President had a meeting with SLFP MPs, Provincial Council members and electoral organisers in Colombo today. He said the party’s unity was of paramount importance. He said whenever SLFP was riddled with division the United National Party (UNP) had electoral advantage,” sources said.

Six MPs had been appointed to resume the presently stalled dialogue between the President and the former President. Chief Opposition Whip John Seneviratne, MPs Dilan Perera, Susil Premajayantha, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Kumara Welgama and T. B. Ekanayake serve in this committee. (Kelum Bandara)

All of you above ! - change is also good and MR could not have taken the country into his hands and played with the people like a foot ball game. MS is a good candidate and if any of you have listened to his speeches VERY CAREFULLY you will all note that it was not he who divided the party but the one that lost the election. Once his terms was over he should know to retire gracefully, maintaining his status and respect. This way the little respect people have for him will also be lost. Also words spoken in public by MR should be chosen before spitting them out.
