Mahendra Ratwatte resigns as Mayor of Kandy

Kandy Mayor Mahendra Ratwatte has resigned from his post this morning to contest the election of Kandy Sri Vishnu Devala.

He handed over the resignation to the Municipal Commissioner Chandana Tennakoon.

Sources said that he resigned from the post to contest the election of Kandy Sri Vishnu Devala that would be held on December 01.

The post of Basnayake Nilames of the Kandy Sri Vishnu Devala had been held by members of the Ratwatte family since long. (Nadeeka Bandara)
