The government will introduce constitutional reforms soon after the new parliament convenes on April 22 including the re-introduction of the Executive Committee system enabling all MPs to participate in decision making, Cabinet spokesman Prof. G.L. Peiris said.

He also said that former UNP members Johnston Fernando and Indika Bandaranaike will not lose their of their ministerial posts or Parliament memberships following their cross over and subsequent litigation in the Supreme Court according Attorney General Mohan Peiris.

“The government accepts the AG’s advice and considers both Mr. Fernando and Mr. Bandaranaike as MPs as well as ministers until current Parliament expires after the general election on April 8,” Prof. Peiris stressed.

Prof. Peiris is building castles in the air. Prof. you must first win the General Elections by fair means and only thereafter you can think of new legislations.

    Better late than never!

The issue concerning Johnston and Indika will become irrelevant, in another two weeks. Till then, it remains a matter of legal opinion. There is no good reason to flay the learned Professor.

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 12:26 PM

    Basket full of Jokes...!

    Thursday, 25 March 2010 01:29 PM

How come the professori says Johnston and Indika are still members of the parliament and cabinet ministers when the UNP has expelled them and the Secretary General of the parliament has already announced it, and two new MPs from the UNP are to take oaths when the Parliament meets next before the general elections to debate the emergency. Has the law professori got his wires crossed as usual. Wonder how the professori himself will come and sit in the next Parliament : by winning a seat or through the back door.

Coming out of the courts the other day he was greeted with a belly full of hooting.
