A group of Sri Lankans who were promised jobs in Afghanistan have been stranded in India by their agent, the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau said. The group of 11 Sri Lankans are now being attended to by the Sri Lankan High Commission in New Delhi.
Meanwhile the agent who had sent the Sri Lankans to India is absconding. The Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau urged job seekers to be mindful of agents they register with to be sent overseas. (ISA)
This Foreign Employment Bureau is a useless office. Why they ask the job seekers to check. How the job seekers going the check the profiles or history of the agency. Its the duty of this so called Bureau to make sure that the agencies are genuine. They charge every overseas employee annually. Foreign Employment Bureau's only active job seem to be checking the passport of emplees at the airport when they leave to make sure that its stamped.

Afghanistan is a war torn country , with killings each and every day. Its incredible that our people are wanting to go to this dangerous country. Is this a reflection on the state of our own country ? Why are these people risking their very lives to earn a living ?
