A maid and her Sri Lankan lover have been identified by the Kuwaiti Capital Investigations Department as those who stole the gold jewelry and watches worth KD 8,000 from a Kuwaiti citizen’s home in Kaifan, Kuwait the Alam Al-Yawm daily reported.

Sources said detectives from the Capital uncovered the Kuwaiti citizen’s maid and her Sri Lankan lover had stolen the items, after the case was reported to Kaifan Police station and later referred to the Capital Investigations Department.

Sources noted a team of detectives was formed to investigate the case, and the maid was placed under surveillance for several days. The officers discovered a Sri Lankan man was visiting the house frequently and they noticed it was the maid’s lover who was planning to marry her. In the course of interrogation, they admitted to stealing the items for their marriage ceremony in their home country. (Arab Times )
