The Additional District Judge of Kandy has been interdicted allegedly for professional negligence, a spokesman for the Judicial Service Commission told Daily Mirror online today.
The spokesman said that the Commission received several complaints from the public and lawyers over the negligent behavior of the Kandy Additional District Judge Rohan Jayawardena.
On a complaint made by Chief Judge Asoka De Silva , the Commission appointed Supreme Court Judge S.I Imam and the Deputy Secretary of the Commission Manjula Thilakaratna to investigate the allegations against the Additional District Judge.
Consequently it was found that the Judge was guilty for intentionally delaying the pronouncement of judgments, for negligently failing to record oral orders given by him in the cases on the concerned case records and for unnecessarily delaying the trials.
The spokesman said the Commission had already received many more complaints against misbehaviors of judges and magistrates and would initiate inquiries and if they were found guilty they would be dealt severely.

Very good! Please uphold the independance and professional standards of the judicial system without fear or favour towards the most influential and powerful in our society and your names will be written in gold in our history.

How about taking action against the powerful judge who abused a poor servant girl in his house? Is he too powerful?
