An iron railing which was removed by UPFA MP Nishantha Muthuhettigama from the newly built Galle bus stand on Thursday (21) was re-fixed under the protection of the police Special Task Force after directions were given by the Southern Provincial Council Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister added that it was his responsibility to protect the facilities provided for the people by the government.

The railing was removed by MP Muthuhettigama after some bus operators complained that the railing was hindering the passengers who wanted to board certain private buses at the stand.

The Galle bus stand built at a cost of over Rs.40m was declared opened by the President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Monday (11). (Sajeewa Wijeweera & Sanath Desomnd)

The cost of replacing the iron railing must be recovered from MP Nishantha Muthuhettigama and he must be charged in court of law for removing the iron railing which belonged to the government .
