Detained former army commander General Sarath Fonseka, speaking to reporters at the funeral of his mother-in-law a short while ago, said that the victory day celebrations being held tomorrow is not in the interest of the army.

Fonseka said that the event was merely to satisfy some individuals. He also said that it was with the greatest difficulty that he was given clearance to attend the funeral of Anoma Fonseka's mother.

Crying foul after betraying the country & the armed forces. JVP goons & Mongrel Samaraweera should be punished for this debacle.

    Friday, 18 June 2010 08:37 AM

No, weather god has changed his party........

    Friday, 18 June 2010 12:22 AM

From the beginning SF said that celebrations are enough, and we have more and more to do, to gain the full victory.

    Thursday, 17 June 2010 11:22 PM

The 'weather god' will decide today who is wrong and who is right ... let's wait and see!

    Thursday, 17 June 2010 10:19 PM

Please respect the former General. Without him, it's not going to be a fair celebration.

    Thursday, 17 June 2010 07:39 PM

Dear General, don't worry. All those who are against you, in this forum, are not Sri Lankans at all!

    Thursday, 17 June 2010 07:10 PM

What is the 'great victory' achieved over dead bodies? We only preach Buddhist principles, not practice them! Think of the millions being spent on 'celebrations'! If you really want to recognize the war heroes, why not spend the moneys for the welfare of the gallant soldiers who fought the war?

    Thursday, 17 June 2010 07:04 PM

No doubt that SF holds the biggest stake in the war victory, as he excelled all previous Generals in conducting the war and ensuring an unimaginable end. A victory celebration, without the real hero!

    Thursday, 17 June 2010 01:46 PM

hahaha this from the man who is all about "self interest"! you let the whole country down sir.

    Thursday, 17 June 2010 01:32 PM

It is a sad day when the greatest general produced by our country is not part of the victory day events!

    Thursday, 17 June 2010 11:52 AM

    Will it rain again tomorrow??
International LTTE terrorists will slam the V-day celebrations too!!

    Thursday, 17 June 2010 01:19 PM

Before you start professising, put your house in order SF. It is like barking at the moon !

    Thursday, 17 June 2010 01:17 PM

HAHAHA. I was trying to imagine Fonseka as a bride in a veil and i couldn't stop laughing out loud!!!

    Thursday, 17 June 2010 01:00 PM

You sounds like a full fledge JVPer now.

    Thursday, 17 June 2010 12:39 PM

Dear sir how you feel about your own nationality people in Sri Lanka.

    Thursday, 17 June 2010 12:38 PM

SF, It's not your business now.

    Thursday, 17 June 2010 12:14 PM

    Fonseka you are joke!

    Thursday, 17 June 2010 12:10 PM

V-Day without SF is like a wedding without a bride!

    Thursday, 17 June 2010 12:07 PM

    Thursday, 17 June 2010 12:02 PM

    Thursday, 17 June 2010 11:59 AM
