Eight persons including a lawyer were taken into custody by the Borella police under suspicion of producing a defamatory documentary on Sri Lanka Army at a house in Narahenpita.

Five individuals among the arrested are residents of Jaffna. Investigations have revealed that two of the suspects had migrated to India.

After shooting the film in India the suspects had brought it to Sri Lanka for dubbing.  Police said the documentary contained scenes portraying the Sri Lanka Army as an immoral, inhumane and atrocious group.

During the raid, the Police seized the video cassette of the film and the tools and equipment used by them to dub the film.(Muditha Dayananda)

May be they are paid servants of channel 4 and international Tamil diaspora and please keep INDIA and USA at a distance along with the west alias

    Malin Monday, 30 March 2015 09:07 AM

The Police first should find out for whom this film is being shot. If it is for Channel 4 (UK), we must expose them to the world how they are manipulating with manufactured docs against Sri Lanka.

Lanka Watch Monday, 30 March 2015 12:45 AM

Your are very right. Collecting evidence is not a crime nor terroism

    Nims Monday, 30 March 2015 12:48 AM

Your comments are most ludicrous!! Collecting data for an internal investigation in Tamil Nadu? This is not collecting evidences for an internal investigation. If this was intended for an independent investigation why did they filmed it in Tamil Nadu and dubbed it here. Why didnt they do it openly - instead of hide and seek? These are the work similar to that of Channel 4. Explain pl

This is not freedom of speech. LTTE Terrorist of Tamil diaspora are fabricating stories about SL military for their propaganda. These left over LTTE is accusing SL govt

Real Peace Sunday, 29 March 2015 04:25 PM

Sri Lanka is a democratic country and freedom of speech is enshrined in our constitution. During the last phase of the war some soldiers did commit crimes and the SL is saying it will conduct an investigation. Is it wrong for the people to collect evidence to produce at the internal investigation? This shows that the govt is not ready for the internal in investigation.

When did making a video or dubbing a video became a terrorist act?.

    Patriot Sunday, 29 March 2015 08:43 PM

Today with new technology anything can be produced to make it look like real or if it is real, then, to make it look like someone else had committed the crime

    Esala Sunday, 29 March 2015 08:57 PM

Real Peace nadar all the crimes done by LTTE before and war time not the SL army.

The new government have relaxed stringent security measures in the name of freedom of expression etc, in line with their election manifesto. The national security is paramount and should not be compromised with terrorists or terror promoters.

IF it is defamatory, arrest them all and let teh face the courts and if found guilty, let em serve a long time... Do NOT let terrorism raise its ugly head, whether it be by the Sinhalese, Tamil or Muslim...

    Jenston Sunday, 29 March 2015 02:06 PM

SL Intelligence must keep a track of the highly informed LTTE troll group that posts scandalous, scurrilous and malicious content against SL on the web under impersonation.

Suq Madique Sunday, 29 March 2015 02:16 PM

These trouble-makers just want to keep the ugly head of terrorism raised. Swift and stern action must be dealt as a deterrent to others who want to disrupt the peace.
